Sorry guys, but that was just crazy.  This project should be about doing a little investigation/documentation and hopefully having a laugh along the way.  If we start fighting amongst ourselves, then it becomes kind of pointless.

Also, if you find yourself questioning the motives of the site's admin and mods it's probably time to mosey along.  We like things with as little drama as possible here, and it's been working well for the last.. almost two months.

Question ConsoleOS thread on Remix OS Google Groups
Posted by: BackerX - 03-04-2016, 11:12 PM - Forum: ConsoleOS Rip-Off Open Forum - Replies (5)

I was digging the Remix OS Alpha release, but ran into some problems with the Beta, so I was looking through the Google Groups forums and came across a ConsoleOS thread.  I had to check it out.  It's weird.  It's written in Prician, in some respects, but then in others, not.  And it seems like a bizarre place to go pick a fight?  But then the OP starts hitting all the CP talking points.  He also seems uncannily knowledgeable about the current and past going-ons with the 'project'.

I really don't know what to make of it.

Star Sale Contracts and Good Faith
Posted by: BackerX - 03-04-2016, 01:03 AM - Forum: Small Claims - No Replies

This entire site/page is good reading.

Some highlights:

http://backersmanual.com Wrote:If the crowdfunding transaction has tangible, commensurate rewards offered for pledges, it is classified as a sale transaction and the project creator earns income or revenue from the transaction. The key difference between a crowdfunded transaction versus sale is that the legal transfer of rights and responsibilities over the product is in the future, because the product only ships at a much later date compared to when the money is taken.

Another interesting section elaborates on "Good Faith"
http://backersmanual.com Wrote:Another pertinent clause in Kickstarter’s terms and conditions is:

“Project Creators agree to make a good faith attempt to fulfill each reward by its Estimated Delivery Date.”

Let’s first understand the definition of “good faith”, as from Wikipedia:

“In contract law, the implied covenant of good faith is a general presumption that the parties to a contract will deal with each other honestly and fairly, so as not to destroy the right of the other party or parties to receive the benefits of the contract.”

Because the contracting parties are the project creator and backer, and the contract is a sale, contract law applies. Backers have already fulfilled their part of the contract when the money exchanged hands at the end of the funding campaign. It is now up to the project creator to fulfill his part, in a good faith attempt.

Things which work great
2) Audio
3) Touch Screen
4) Mouse Pad
5) USB Attached Peripherals like mouse , keyboard

Issues / Bugs
1) None of the applications work. All of them crash when opened. This includes the bundeled gallery app.
2) Any application downloaded via the amazon store crashes too.
3) When i try to play video in the webbrowser at m.youtube.com, only the audio plays and not the video.
4) Keyboard on display does not appear at all.

Works great and smooth, but still there is a long way to go.
I would say I am happy with the way it looks. But after waiting for an year and half I expected it to be better.

Also the applications on DR1 used to work without crashes. So what do we do now ?

Well, I thought copy and paste would be easy enough for Mr. Price.

Maybe I was wrong ;-)

Doing it right -> Phoenix OS and Remix OS
Posted by: Backer - 02-28-2016, 01:51 AM - Forum: ConsoleOS Rip-Off Open Forum - Replies (6)

Hi fellow ex-backers,

I was quite happy to read following message from the creator of Android-X86:

Source -> https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/...rzO0Qa3w4U

Quote:Hi all,
As you may have read the announcement on both sites,
Android-x86 partners with Remix OS now.

For those who are curious, let me give more details
why and how we make the partnership.

Jide Technology, the creator of Remix OS, has contacted
me in about Sep 2015 for the cooperation.
In the early Nov 2015, one month after Android-x86 5.1-rc1
released, they sent me a preview iso of Remix OS for PC
based on the 5.1-rc1. I was surprised they made it so quickly.

In the mid Nov 2015, two co-founders of Jide met me
at Taipei to exchange more ideas about the cooperation.
Later in the end of Nov when I visited Beijing,
I was invited to Jide's office to give a talk to the RD team.
I was surprised they have a so big, smart and energetic team.
After that, Jide engineers joined the devel group
to co-work with other developers. They have submitted
some valuable patches to the Android-x86 codebase.

Last week after the CNY holidays, I was invited to Jide office
again. During the meetings in the 4 days, we reached a very
detailed cooperation plan including new designed website,
prioritized working items and marketing promotion.
Moreover, we see the same vision that Android will
enter or even dominate the PC desktop in the future.
We hope to make it happen as quicker as possible.
We agreed to announce the partnership on MWC 2016.

Jide Technology will continue to contribute improvements of
Remix OS under the x86 BSP level, say, the kernel and hals.
Later I'll post the detailed tasks to the devel group
so other developers can follow and co-work together.

Besides, I was also invited to visit Chaozhuo Technology,
the creator of Phoenix OS(x86) in Beijing.
Though they are a smaller group, they also show
sincere intention to work with the community
to improve Android UX on the desktop.
I think they will also make good contributions in the future.

What I hope to say is the Jide and Chaozhuo Technology
shows a very good example how the commercial companies
can co-work and contribute an open source project
like Android-x86.
I believe they will move forward this project to a totally
different level than before in the near future.

Let's make it!

Android-x86 project
After all Mr. Price was maybe the first one who had the idea of a commercial Android for PC distribution, but it is ironic that he failed so dramatically and others get the fruits of success.

Often history shows us that people, which are deceptive and ruthless, mostly win.

Apparently these attributes combined with incompetence luckily don`t succeed.

Poor Mr. Price... everything lost except a few thousand bugs, which are probably already spent.

Got a nice note from the folks at http://www.android-x86.net.  They invite anyone to come and check out their Console OS content.  There is a lot of other good stuff there.

Well, with one more day in February, the "Coming Next Month: Console Developer Rewards" Christopher Price updated on January 2 isn't actually coming to fruition. 55 days later, nothing.

Not like anyone expected it anyways. No one gives a fuck about Console OS.

  Backer Survey
Posted by: BackerX - 02-26-2016, 01:07 AM - Forum: Survey - No Replies

I want to use Console OS on the following machines. See later on for custom PCs. Please use Manufacturer + Model format. Please be specific. (Example: Dell XPS 12-9Q33 or ASUS Transformer Book T100TAS).
ASUS Transformer T100

System #2 - Use the same format (Example: Apple MacBook Pro 13-inch Late 2013 or Sony VAIO Tap 21 SVT21217CXB)

System #3 - Again, please be as specific as possible with model numbers.

System #4 - You can cast two votes for one device by using the same make/model in an additional vote field. This is why all fields are required.

System #5 - If you have machines that we are already slated to support, list them too if you're out of new machines.

From our experience, most people have just five or fewer machines to vote for. If you want us to duplicate these votes over, just say "Copy" in this box. Otherwise, leave your email address (must match Kickstarter) and we'll send you additional votes.

Custom Machines: Answer in the following order CPU Vendor, CPU Model, Motherboard Make/Model & then append any additional PCIe cards/accessories. (Example: Intel Core i7-9670K, Gigabyte Z97, Radeon HD 9876, Broadcom 321 Wi-Fi). Type NA if not applicable.

Please tell us what GPU / Graphics vendor you would like us to support. For logistical reasons, please vote for the one you use the most. [Fear not if systems above have different GPUs - we're tallying both and will be factoring both into our analysis]
NVIDIA Graphics

Do any of your machines include built-in GPS?

Do any of your machines include a built-in 3G/4G radio?

Are you interested in nightly builds of Console OS? Keep in mind, this an operating system. A bug in a nightly build can easily cause you to wipe and reinstall everything.
No - Not for me.

Android "L" is coming soon. We're soon going to have to decide if we should keep building out Console OS based on Android 4.4, KitKat, or speed up moving to "L". This will mean trade-offs between our original feature set and fast upgrades. Help us decide:

Stick with Android KitKat, and focus on adding features and functionality to that release for now.

InstaSwitch will take us awhile to build, and requires us to get pretty comfortable with one branch of Android (L vs KitKat, once again). Do you plan to use InstaSwitch? Is it a high priority feature for you?
Yes - I want to use InstaSwitch right away.

Valve has given us the cold shoulder - but our door is always open to talking more about working together. We think

Console OS and SteamOS® should get along, but we need to know if you really want that:
No - Not interested in SteamOS® on devices I'd want Console OS to run on.

We've outlined pretty well how we'll support importing apps obtained from outside sources like Google Play™ - but this question is about Google Play in particular. Do you want Console OS to someday support Google Play applications?
Yes - I want Google and Console OS to get along. Can't we all just get along.
