Meet a sock-puppet alter ego
#1
Have you ever gone to a forum or article about ConsoleOS and felt curious about a person singing its praises? After all, ConsoleOS is a scam, and yet there is this person who seems happy and enthusiastic about it. Perhaps you're wrong and should reevaluate your views?

Nah. Let's take a look at one of these supporters:

Meet Mr. hatoncat who exhorts people to support ConsoleOS:

Quote:Yes, but as they noted, people asked for Surface Pro above everything else combined. A lot of people may have been holding off for this kind of assessment.

And to those who haven't backed it, you're part of the problem!

because Android-x86 sucks:

Quote:I've used Android-x86 for years - it's buggy and there's a reason not one PC maker in the world ships with it. If Console OS is licensed by Intel and others, it's going to have drivers that will actually work.

And yes, some OSS advocates will balk at that - but Console OS is another choice there.

and ConsoleOS is definately not vaporware:

Quote:Latest YouTube video has by my count around a half dozen different devices shown off. Might want to watch the safety on your vaporware rifle.

(sidenote: hahahahahahaha)

he's even put his own money down. he's a backer:

Quote:Goldfish-x86 compiles on AOSP - that's just the emulator. You cannot natively boot AOSP on a PC.

To the rest, I'm for the underdog and we've stated our cases. Disagree... with my wallet.

Again, Android-x86 sucks!

Quote:As an Android-x86.org user, I can tell you a startup there would be a welcomed relief. The state of Android-x86.org is a complete mess. Most of the stuff in it has fallen apart. The project had some initial funding from AMD and it all went to hell. The stack doesn't support UEFI natively, and everything has become a cheap (and unreliable) hack.

It really does, even the code sucks!

Quote:It's been years since Android-x86.org got proper patches. If anything the code is a pile of junk and should be started from scratch. You started this thread attacking this Kickstarter as having no point, now you're proposing alternative solutions that you think is better to solve the same problem.

While ConsoleOS is a class act!

Quote:Sigh. You really are messing up on the facts so much it isn't funny. The only core component of Android that is GPL, is the Linux kernel. The rest is mixed license, typically Apache, that doesn't require code sharing upstream.

Console OS has agreed to do so, most do not. A class act move on their part.

Who is Mr. hatoncat? An enthusiastic early backer, perhaps? Nope. It is none other than (you guessed it!), Christopher Price in one of his "pretend to be another user" alter egos. He goes to great lengths in this mini-con, pretending to be someone who's read their (ConsoleOS') Kickstarter and support it.

How can I be so sure that Mr. hatoncat is Christoper Price? He lets it slip in one of his blog posts (look at the username on the image).

This is the kind of duplicitous behavior we're dealing with here and it demonstrates how Price has been a pathological liar from the beginning.

It is also obvious it is Price because that "hatoncat" happens to share many of Price's preferences, including Evangelion and Keurig Kold. In fact, Price and hatoncat posted about Evangelion on Facebook and Reddit, respectively, during the same period a month ago. Their shared style of writing which includes an altruistic, embellished word choice and typically short sentences is a dead giveaway. As a matter of fact, much of what is posted in their Evangelion posts are, word for word, one in the same! Compare these Reddit and Facebook posts and see for yourself.

Here are some more of Price's "hatoncat" Internet accounts. He appears to have recently accumulated some negative feedback on his eBay account due to him going missing for weeks at a time. His meager collection of two projects on his GitHub are just copypasta code.

Lol too funny. For further confirmation its him, the eBay profile says he's from chico California. Guess what? Chris Prices Facebook and other social media accounts say he's from Chico California. Also catonhat has some Pontiac solstice/Saturn sky parts for sale. In his http://www.Christopher price.net blog he talks about owning a Saturn sky! Too many coincidences.

Christopher has done this on many of the articles and forum postings that point out Console OS as a scam. On the forum Android-x86.net, the admin traced back the IP to Santa Clara, CA, exactly where Christopher Price was. I'll gather all the quotes and names later. For the time being, I just came across this post and forgot about it. I sent this email to a few addresses and directly through 01.org to Intel Open Source on September 24, 2015:

"Hello,

I am writing on behalf of all the backers of the Console OS Kickstarter campaign (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mmv...for-the-pc). The individual behind this project, Christopher Price, passed off an unchanged Android-IA 4.4 build as a “Developer Release” and said that he fulfilled campaign obligations. He raised $78,497 and was funded on August 11, 2014.

Since then, he's released no other products and continues to place blame on Intel for roadblocks, delays, and production hiccups. He never provides true facts, and seemingly hides behind flowery PR speak to continually buy time.

As backers, we are frankly sick of it and looking for answers. Can you please confirm that Christopher Price is indeed in close talks with Intel and that he is waiting on you to proceed with the project? He recently stated that he’s working closely with Intel Romania. Is this true? Can you provide an email to contact them? He’s stated, on multiple occasions, that we are free to contact Intel directly, but never provides email addresses for doing so.

I'm hoping this message will reach the right department.
Sincerely,
Kickstarter backers of Console OS project."

I never received an email back. You should post it to the KS wall and ask Christopher why they didn't respond, and if we could receive the correct contact, considering he's stated on multiple occasions that we are free to contact Intel.

He posted this laughable response to the astroturfing discovery:

Chris Prick Wrote:As with any AMA-format, it's common for people to use their real names when representing a company. That is why our CEO made a new Reddit account; to represent Console, Inc. with his real name - the old and new accounts are not intended to overlap or bump one-another.
It would make little sense to do it that way, as people could easily connect the two usernames. To astroturf, you wouldn't begin to use commonly-associated usernames.
Claims of "astroturfing" are unfounded. Everyone at Console, Inc. has better things to do with our time - like ship Console OS, which we're well on the way to do on GitHub, and shortly in release candidate.
Also looks like he's tried to delete all the Con OS related comments from his Reddit account  Big Grin

I took a bunch of screenshots in case they all go bye bye.

Just noticed the submission that he screengrabbed for the blog post got removed because it wasn't news. Maybe someone needs to write him a blog post on how to use Reddit Cool

Here's one, read this post on the Android-x86 Google Group about member "androidnougat" (Christopher Price) and then the few that it references above: https://groups.google.com/d/msg/android-...dBdqQ5DQAJ

I'm getting the one from the Android-x86.net group shortly.
